Year 7-10 Agriculture

Composting

Composting is a way of reducing our food waste, through a natural “recycling” system.  During the composting process plant matter is broken down by bacteria, worms, slaters and other animals.   The result is compost that is now high in important nutrients that helps to improve plant growth and reduced the need for chemical pesticides and fertilisers.

Did you know that approx 50% of our household rubbish is able to be composted?  That includes: food scraps, garden waste and other organic matter?
